Thanks for stopping by! This page will steer you toward information about people and places in Connecticut. It's a small state, but there's a lot to it. So consider this just a stepping-off point.
Well yes, we do have those things, but they are mostly found in the cities and large suburban towns. Much of Connecticut is farms, woods and rolling hills. Matter of fact, chances are Connecticut has a higher percentage of wooded land than your state. There are many state and city parks, and lakes and rivers that are great for a variety of outdoor recreational activities. Of course, it's a great place to live, but it's also a wonderful place to visit. Central Connecticut - Where I live.
The people of Connecticut take sports very seriously. The University of Connecticut men and women's basketball programs are the favorites of Connecticut's fans. Athough we don't have a major sport's franchise in our state, we are so close to Boston and New York, large numbers of Connecticut residents are fans of the Yankees, Red Sox, Mets, Patriots, Giants, Jets, Knicks and Celtics. Connecticut's unique location makes it a great place to live. Museums, art galleries, Broadway, historic sites, shopping, casinos, colleges, beaches, hiking trails and so many other choices are never more than a couple of hours away. Our capital city, Hartford, has been through some rough times in the recent past, but the state is making a major effort to improve the condition of the city. Like Pittsburgh, Baltimore and other former down and out cities, Hartford is making a comeback! A riverwalk has just been created and there are multimillion dollar plans in the works to make the downtown into a great place to live again.
Here are some sites to learn more about Connecticut:
One of the most popular travel stops in the Northeast. During the 19th century, Mystic was a center of shipbuilding and whaling. The ships, buildings, and staff will take you back to that time.
Lake Compounce Park - The oldest amusement park in the United States has been given new life by Kennywood. After millions of dollars of improvements, it has become a favorite with families from all over New England. One of the highlights is the mountain coaster named Boulder Dash. Its mountainside setting and speeds of 60 mph may make it the premier coaster in North America.
Information about our little state from our not so little state government.
Foxwoods Resort & Casino - What began as a bingo hall not so long ago, is now the largest casino in the world! But it's a lot more than that, great hotel rooms, fine restaurants, big name concert performers, and an outstanding Native American museum make it a favorite of visitors to the Northeast.
One of the best known educational institutions in the world. The university is in New Haven, Connecticut and has been the school of choice of Bill, Hillary, George and many other famous and not so famous Americans.
